Book Updates

Updates to the book will be posted here occasionally.

(Please note that this is the ORIGINAL user-friendly and official "Walking Washington, DC" guidebook, whose title was apparently "stolen" after this book was published)

* Anacostia Riverwalk: The Anacostia Riverwalk Trail's extension to Kenilworth Park & Aquatics Garden finally opened on Oct. 31!  Get ready to hike, jog & roll: https://www.anacostiawaterfront.org/

* Sadly, InfoShop, the World Bank's gem of a (tax-free!) book store, was set to close Oct. 16, 2016. Patrons are so pissed, they posted a petition to keep it from closing, according to the Washington City Paper.  Updates here: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/keep-the-world-bank-bookstore-infoshop-open

* What costs $895 a night?  A room at Donald Trump's new luxe hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, according to the Washington Post.  The Trump International Hotel at the old Post Office opened Sept. 12.  A "grand opening" is planned for October.

* Holy Moly!  DC's new streetcar is actually celebrating its 6-month anniversary.  It says it has toted around more than 400,000 passengers -- enough to fill RFK stadium -- since it FINALLY opened on February 27, 2016.  Details: http://www.dcstreetcar.com/  The H Street streetcar opened 8 years after planning began.

* The Goethe-Institut moved to 1990 K St., NW, Suite 03.  Details: https://www.goethe.de/ins/us/en/sta/wsh.html location
